Installations Near Antennas and Sensitive Radio Equipment
This white paper explains how electromagnetic interference (EMI) can affect electronic devices installed near radio antennas. Although devices meet standard electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements, strong radio environments may exceed these limits. EMI can travel through the air or along cables, with cables sometimes acting as unintended antennas. To reduce interference, installations should maintain at least 3 meters distance from antennas, use highly shielded Ethernet cables (preferably SF/FTP), and ensure proper cable routing and grounding. Additional protection, such as metal conduits, may be required, and on-site testing is recommended for sensitive environments to ensure reliable system performance.
