TELEC is a notified body based on the R&TTE directive, providing CE marking and conformity support for companies exporting electronic equipment to European Union countries. CE marking conformity is required to sell electrical and electronic equipment within the EU. Products with CE marking can be sold and move freely within the EU, provided they comply with directives based on EN standards, including EMC, RF, electrical safety, and health requirements such as electromagnetic exposure (SAR).
TELEC conducts verification testing of CE marking conformity in line with EMC and R&TTE directive requirements. For exported equipment, CE marking functions as a requirement for entry into the EU market. While most electrical and electronic equipment falls under the EMC directive, radio equipment is covered under the R&TTE directive.
The company also provides support for CE marking declaration of conformity. As a notified body for radio equipment in the EU, TELEC issues opinions and evaluations of technical materials from the perspective of radio equipment requirements, including information technology equipment.
A notified body is an organization approved to conduct third-party conformity assessments based on applicable directives and standards. Organizations recognized under mutual recognition agreements between Japan and the EU are also approved as notified bodies within the EU, depending on product categories.
TELEC outlines the conformity assessment process for CE marking, including confirmation of applicable directives, preparation of equipment for testing, and selection between self-declaration and conformity assessment. The process includes testing, issuance of test reports, support in preparing technical documentation, and completion of conformity assessment where applicable. Products are then affixed with the CE marking before shipment.
