As electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) certification becomes more complex, time-critical, and cost-intensive, ERETEC Inc. is introducing advanced automation solutions designed to significantly reduce testing time, lower costs, and minimize human error while ensuring compliance with global standards.
Driven by the rapid growth of electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous driving technologies, and the Internet of Things (IoT), today’s electromagnetic environments are increasingly challenging. At the same time, tighter regulatory requirements across major markets- including FCC, ETSI, and KC- are making EMC evaluation efficiency a decisive factor in product competitiveness and global market access.
In response, ERETEC, a leading Korean provider of electromagnetic shielding facilities and EMC and antenna test and measurement solutions, is expanding its market presence with a portfolio of proprietary automation technologies that integrate advanced software and hardware expertise.
ERETEC announced on December 22 that its latest solutions are designed to transform EMC testing from manual, evaluator-dependent processes into highly repeatable, automated workflows. The company’s offerings include the High-Performance Near-Field Scanning System (RCE Series), Radiated Spurious Emission (RSE) Measurement System, Radiated Immunity and Noise Measurement Automation System, and an ISO 11452-9-based automation system for automotive applications.
As wireless technologies proliferate and digital transformation accelerates, electronics manufacturers are facing increased challenges related to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS). Manual testing approaches, ERETEC notes, often lead to longer evaluation times, inconsistent results, and higher risks of measurement error.
The RCE Series, while not intended as a compliance test system, supports early-stage product development by identifying EMC noise sources. Using simultaneous X, Y, and Z-axis control, the system enables high-speed, high-precision scanning with step sizes as small as 0.1 mm. It supports flexible scan geometries and automatic distance control relative to the equipment under test (EUT), covering frequencies from 30 MHz to 40 GHz with both E-field and H-field probe support.
For compliance testing, ERETEC’s Radiated Spurious Emission Measurement System addresses stringent international certification requirements. Its ability to perform simultaneous vertical and horizontal polarization measurements significantly reduces test time compared to conventional methods, while automated control of communication scenarios further improves efficiency.
The company’s Radiated Immunity and Noise Measurement Automation System is designed to fully automate chamber testing. During radiated emission (RE) and radiated immunity (RI) tests, antennas are automatically positioned based on frequency, with seamless transitions between frequency bands. Integrated software enables one-click automation, including automatic switching between RE and RI modes, while independently controlled antenna positioning units ensure accuracy and reduce noise.
In the automotive electronics sector, ERETEC’s ISO 11452-9-based automation system incorporates collaborative robots to enhance consistency and data reliability. The system allows precise remote control of robots from outside the test chamber, fully synchronized with test software, supporting complex automotive EMC evaluations.
“Traditional EMC testing required complex configurations and repetitive manual measurements, increasing the risk of human error and driving up costs,” said Man-Young Chi, CEO of ERETEC. “Our automation solutions are designed not only to improve technical efficiency but also to deliver real business value by reducing development costs and minimizing certification risks. This positions ERETEC as a true global partner for customers navigating increasingly demanding EMC requirements.”
