Elite Provides OTA Antenna Performance Testing for Wireless Devices

Elite Provides OTA Antenna Performance Testing for Wireless Devices712370

Elite, a provider of testing, inspection, and certification services for EMC, wireless, and product compliance across multiple industries, offers antenna performance testing as part of its EMI/EMC testing services, supporting wireless applications with evaluation capabilities for high-performance antennas.

Elite is a CTIA Authorized Test Lab (ATL) for Over-The-Air (OTA) performance testing of Cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, and converged devices. Its wireless specialists and CTIA-compliant Wireless Test Chamber provide developmental, pre-compliance, and CTIA certification testing services. Key performance tests for cellular, WiFi, and other radio systems include Total Radiated Power (TRP), Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS), and Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI), along with antenna gain measurements using 2D and 3D graphic renderings, as well as S-Parameters, efficiency, and directivity.

Elite conducts antenna performance measurements and optimization to support design requirements. It evaluates connectivity, placement, and efficiency for both off-the-shelf and custom-designed antennas to optimize antenna location and reduce power consumption. Real-world test data generated early in the design cycle supports OEM design decisions and reduces unexpected issues during product launch.

The company operates a Wireless Performance Test Chamber (WPTC) with a 1.3 m range length. The chamber is CTIA-compliant and supports accurate and repeatable measurements.

Elite also uses the R&S TS8991 OTA Performance Test System, which operates across a test range from 400 MHz to 6 GHz. The system is equipped with Rohde & Schwarz technology and is optimized for measurement accuracy and speed.

In addition, Elite utilizes the CMX500 5G signaling box to test communication standards, including both standalone and non-standalone 5G modes. The CMX500 supports measurement of Total Radiated Power (TRP) and Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS) for 5G NR transmitters requiring CTIA OTA measurements for PTCRB certification.

The CMX500 system enables simulation of 5G and 4G wireless communication in the lab, evaluation of connection quality and data throughput during testing, and configuration for different application requirements.
