The laboratory also states that transient events can occur when utility providers switch power factor correction equipment, during AC power cord insertion, equipment power cycling, and circuit breaker opening or closing operations.
According to the company, lightning strikes can also produce EFT events, while subway trains and electric buses can generate EFT surges on power grids and AC mains through continuous arcing conditions. Calitron Calibration Laboratory further states that switching power supply layouts can be affected by large loop paths in SMPS high switching current paths, which should be designed to remain short and capable of handling high current loads.
