The 8712 from AE Techron is a Switch-Mode Amplifier that operates from DC to 250 kHz. It delivers an output power of up to 12 kW (120 kVA) and a continuous output current of up to 180 A RMS with an efficiency of 85%. This amplifier is fast enough for DC automotive dropout testing and capable of AC voltages required for ISO 61000 and aviation testing. It has low enough noise and distortion specifications to be the reference power source in power quality measurements. This amplifier is capable of reproducing AC, DC, and AC+DC waveforms into loads from a dead short to high impedance. It can be used to simulate a battery at 13.5 VDC or be an AC source with an L-N potential of up to 140 VAC.
The 8712 is exceptional at driving reactive loads and is also capable of receiving, reprocessing and returning to the load up to 4X its rated power. It has a distortion of less than 0.8% and a slew rate of up to 300 V/µs. This amplifier requires a three-phase AC supply of 208 V and is available in an enclosure that measures 89.03 x 57.3 x 80.16 cm.
