Yagi Antennas for EMC Testing
Yagi antennas are ideal for applications that need high gain and high directivity. This type of antenna has three major elements – a driven element which is usually a half-wave folded dipole, a reflector, and one or more directors. The driven element is an active element since it is fed by an external source. The directors (metallic rods) are placed parallel in the line of sight of orientation with reference to the driven element. The reflector element is placed behind the driven element. All these elements are welded to a center rod that acts as horizontal support. The operating frequency of YAGI antennas is in the range of MHz to a few GHz and is ideal for use in both EMC emission measurement tests and immunity tests.
