VCCI Certification Services

VCCI certification applies to electronic products marketed in Japan to control electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ensure that devices do not disrupt radio and telecommunications systems. The scheme is managed by the Voluntary Control Council for Interference (VCCI) and primarily covers information technology equipment (ITE) and multimedia devices.

The compliance process involves EMC testing to evaluate radiated and conducted emissions from electronic devices. Testing is performed in accordance with CISPR-based standards such as CISPR 32, which define emission limits for different product categories. Devices are classified into Class A (industrial/commercial environments) and Class B (residential environments), with Class B having stricter emission limits.

Manufacturers are required to test products at VCCI-recognized laboratories, maintain technical documentation, and register the product with the VCCI organization. Unlike mandatory certification schemes, VCCI operates as a voluntary compliance system, but it is widely adopted and expected for market acceptance in Japan.
