EMC Testing for ISM Equipment
EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) testing for ISM equipment is required to evaluate whether the product meets (i.e., compliance with) the requirements of EMC emission and immunity standards. By complying with these requirements, the ISM equipment can function properly in its intended electromagnetic environment without causing interference with other devices.
Some common examples of ISM equipment include industrial heating equipment, microwave ovens, medical diathermy machines, and more. The ISM equipment can also be a source of electromagnetic interference (EMI) while working, affecting other nearby electronic devices. Also, the ISM equipment may be affected by EMI from various surrounding sources, such as power lines and other nearby electronic devices.
EMC emission measurement testing is performed to measure the amount of EMI emitted by the ISM equipment. This test measures the levels of conducted and radiated emissions from the appliance to ensure they are within acceptable limits. The emission measurement test ensures that the appliance does not emit more than the EMI emission limit specified in the EMC emission standards and does not cause interference with other nearby electronic devices or systems.
